Brief introduction:

(trifluoromethyl) trimethylsilane is a colorless transparent liquid that can be used as a trifluoromethyl reagent for nucleophilic addition of aldehydes and ketones.

Application:

The Ruppert-Prakash reagent is now also a synthetic potassium (trifluoromethyl) -trimethoxyborate, a well-defined trifluoromethyl copper compound used in trifluoromethyl mercaptan trifluoromethane sulfonamide/trifluoromethane sulfonamide, Difluoromethyl trifluoromethane Chemicalbook as a useful feedstock (TMSCF2H) as a suitable source of difluorocarbene (difluoromethyl) trimethylsilane (difluoromethyl) silane for difluoromethylation reactions, Togni reagents and related species as electron-philic trifluoromethylation reagents.

USE

Uses: (trifluoromethyl) trimethylsilane is a reagent used for trifluoromethylation of alkyl compounds. Participates in nucleophilic addition of trifluoromethyl to produce aldehydes and ketones. Trifluoromethyl reagents, aldehydes and ketones to which trifluoromethyl groups are added.

(trifluoromethyl) trimethylsilane (TMSCF3) has a very wide range of uses in organic chemistry. Although both components of the reagent can be involved in the reaction, the reaction involving CF3 is more important.

The most frequently used function of TMSCF3 is the addition reaction with aldehydes and ketones to generate the corresponding α-hydroxy-trifluoromethyl compounds [3-7]. In the presence of catalyst, the reaction can be carried out under very mild conditions. Tetrakyl ammonium fluoride is a commonly used catalyst, and almost quantitative yield can be obtained in most cases. If the oxide of organic tertiary amine is used as catalyst, α-hydroxyl trimethylsilane (Equation 1) can be obtained with high yield [6]. The α-hydroxy-trifluoromethyl compound generated after addition with aldehydes is oxidized by appropriate oxidant, which becomes one of the most effective methods to prepare α-trifluoromethyl ketone compounds (Equation 2)[7].
